Product Description

Drawing on the utility and practicality of classic workwear, the Japan Blue Sashiko Chore Coat updates the traditional coverall jacket with modern tailoring and an original sashiko fabric. The 11oz indigo-dyed cotton has a raised dobby weave, echoing the hand-stitched texture of historical sashiko, once used to reinforce and protect firefighter garments in the Edo period.

What We Think

This piece is all about texture. Woven on a dobby loom, the sashiko fabric has a unique three-dimensional hand feel - soft, dry, and breathable with a subtle grid-like structure. Rope-dyed indigo yarns give it denim-like fade potential, promising rich contrast and high character over time.

It’s easy to pair with jeans, fatigue pants, or tailored trousers, anything with a bit of structure. It can also be worn as a set with the matching Sashiko Wide Tapered Pants.
