RATS Argyle Cardigan

Argyle has moved through several distinct periods of menswear, from its Scottish origins to its adoption by golfers before becoming a familiar part of American collegiate and leisure clothing. By the 1950s, patterned knitwear had become particularly associated with the cleaner, more considered side of postwar casual style, providing the reference point for this RATS cardigan.

The cardigan is knitted from smooth 10 gauge lambswool, giving it warmth without the bulk of a heavier knit. The argyle pattern is complemented by jacquard diamond detailing along the front placket and pocket openings, extending the geometry of the main pattern into the smaller construction details.

RATS keeps the proportions compact, with a slightly shorter body and a fitted, boxy silhouette that reinforces the mid century influence. Small slash pockets sit discreetly at either side, leaving the argyle and jacquard work as the focus of the design.
