Born and raised in Okayama, Japan Tohru Hamamoto laid the foundation for Klax-On, a retail brand specializing in "American casual wear," back in 2002. In the following four years, Hamamoto ventured into creating his own original label with a focus on jeans, basic t-shirts, flannel shirts and sweatshirts.

By the autumn of 2009, "The Strike Gold" denim made its debut, catapulting the brand from relative obscurity to a cult-status, highly sought after brand with Hamamoto furthering their offerings to include loopwheeled t-shirts and sweatshirts, heavyweight flannels and leathergoods.
