Description

The TCB Jeans 1890 No. 2 Blouse is a meticulously crafted piece that brings the style of the late 19th century into today’s wardrobe. Made from rare No.2 denim, this fabric incorporates five different types of thread to capture a unique texture with rich vertical fading, created by strong slub and irregular thread thicknesses. While the No.2 denim doesn’t use TCB’s XX standard, its No.7 class thread blend offers a slightly coarser, authentic feel that honors the rugged look of the era. True to its heritage, the blouse is designed based on historical documents and recreated to match the 1890s original as closely as possible.

This piece is also a showcase of historical denim details, including extensive selvedge use, which appears along the collar, waistband, placket, and back seams. The single-stitched design leaves raw edges in certain areas, reflecting the practical, unrefined style of the time, when selvedge had no special value. The blouse also features an 1855-inspired Hartshorn buckle on the back cinch, along with vintage-style linen patches and rivets. Designed with straight, shorter sleeves and a relaxed drop-shoulder silhouette, this blouse captures a timelessly loose, understated shape—one that feels both historically true and surprisingly contemporary.

The 1890 No. 2 jackets are one of our favorite things to hit the store recently! The construction, using a single-needle process with white selvedge, and the fact that finding any No. 2 jackets to replicate is extremely rare, makes this a truly special piece. TCB has used more selvedge on the 1890 products as that was necessary to recreate them as closely as possible to the originals from 130 years ago!

The drop-shoulder design on this jacket creates a great shape, complemented by the cinch back that allows you to adjust the fit if desired. Wearing both 1890 pieces together would look amazing, but we also think they work really well separately with a loopwheeled tee.
