The CPO shirt takes its name from Chief Petty Officers and was originally designed as a hard-wearing cold weather layer for naval use in the 1930s. Built from thick wool fabric, it functioned as both shirt and light outerwear in harsh conditions.
This reproduction focuses on rarer vintage examples with brown-gold stitching, giving it a slightly warmer, more distinctive look than standard navy versions. The rough character of the original stitching has been carefully recreated by skilled Japanese makers, including the unusual seam line that runs from the cuff into the sleeve opening.
Finished with anchor-marked urea buttons and faithful interior detailing, it carries the weight and presence of true naval workwear. Worn open over a tee or buttoned up as a standalone piece, it has that unmistakable balance of military function and everyday wearability.
