Pherrow's Healthknit Thermal - S. Black

This marks the second collaboration between Pherrow’s and Healthknit, one of the longstanding names in American underwear and everyday basics. The project looks specifically to Healthknit’s Thermal King thermals of the 1960s, recreating the distinctive waffle fabric before combining it with Pherrow’s own approach to vintage cut and sew clothing.

The heavyweight 100% cotton fabric has a pronounced three dimensional waffle structure. Beyond giving the thermal its characteristic appearance, the textured knit creates small pockets of air that help retain warmth while keeping the fabric soft and comfortable against the body. There is enough weight and texture for it to work as a standalone top as well as a cold weather base layer.

Pherrow’s uses the pattern of its classic PCT2, with a close fit inspired by American cut and sew garments from the 1950s and earlier. The slimmer shape makes it particularly easy to wear beneath a shirt or jacket without unnecessary bulk. The collaboration extends beyond the garment itself, with the original Healthknit references carried through to the labels and packaging.
