Yes. Every pair of Solovair shoes, boots and loafers is handcrafted in Northampton, England at the original NPS factory, the same place that produced Dr. Martens in the 1960s.

What’s the difference between Solovair and Dr. Martens?

Solovair made the original Dr. Martens boots under license in the UK. Today, Solovair still uses Goodyear welting and quality leather in the same factory. Most modern Dr. Martens are made overseas with different construction methods.

What We Think

The Solovair Gibson is the original version of what most people now know as a Dr Martens. Solovair made the first pairs in the same Northamptonshire factory they still use today. Same shape, same attitude, worn by punks, skinheads, ska fans, Britpop kids, and just about every subculture that needed a solid pair of shoes that could take a beating.

These Gibson shoes look great with denim, especially when your jeans are cuffed to show off a clean selvedge ID. They also suit chinos or dress pants, making them a truly versatile shoe. The Greasy finish adds a point of difference from the Hi Shine, while the Soft Suspension sole makes them incredibly comfortable for those on their feet all day who need something tougher and more stylish than a sneaker.

Garment Care

All garments available at our store are highly considered, thoughtfully designed and superior crafted. They are beautiful and rare in nature and often made with natural / organic fibres. If you treat them well, they will last you a lifetime.

We always recommend to 'Wear More & Wash Less'.

If washing is necessary we always suggest to hand wash and use organic / premium soaps where available and a natural drying process.
