What We Think

A boxy, cropped chore coat with proper roots in early American workwear. The Lot.742 from Lawford nods to 19th-century railroad and labour jackets, but with a cleaner shape that’s easy to wear today. Made from 11oz indigo denim with a grey weft, it’s got depth and texture that will fade and soften over time.

Stand collar, oversized patch pockets, and iron donut buttons give it the right vintage cues, while two-needle chainstitching keeps it tough. The fit’s roomy but sharp, designed to layer without looking bulky.

Works well with baggy jeans or the matching Lot.548 Work Trousers if you want the full set. A solid Japanese workwear jacket that feels heritage without being heavy-handed.
